FREE WORKSHOP! May 10th! Sign up now!

Most comics are told “just get funny,” but where do you begin to “get funny?” Any comic will tell you that sitting down and actually writing material is one of the hardest parts of this business. What they won’t tell you is how they actually do it themselves and how to find an approach that will elevate your act.

At this free workshop, two proven comics will light the way for anyone looking to take their material to another level. “Crafting the Joke” takes an analytical approach to joke writing. Jeff Lawrence and Joe DeVito will focus in on economy of words in writing as well as discipline. The workshop will also include key guidance for those looking to write a stand-up set for TV.

Speaking will be LBC founder and pro comedian Jeff Lawrence
Guest speaker : Joe DeVito

Topics will include:

  • Joke writing
  • Economy of Words
  • Discipline
  • Writing for a TV set
  • and much more

light snacks will be provided.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

Jeff Lawrence (MTV, NBC, The Wall Street Journal, NY Times, Tampa Bay Times,) is not only the Founder of Laughing Buddha Comedy, he is a professional comic that has worked with Louis CK, Gilbert Gottfried, Marc Maron, Jim Gaffigan, Janeane Garofalo, and countless other stars of comedy.  He was recently featured in Central Park’s Laughter in the Park, Comedy Juice at Gotham, and branded a big name talent by the NY Times.  He’s also appeared as an instructor on the front pages of the Wall St. Journal and Tampa Bay Times.

Joe DeVito (Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, Last Comic Standing) has the power to start fires using his mind, and he also does stand-up comedy. Whether taking on relationships, his Italian-American family, or current events, Joe’s dead-on timing, unexpected twists and sheer flights of lunacy make him a favorite at clubs and colleges across the USA, and at the top venues in New York City.
