Our story
LBC: Where aspiring comedians pursue their dreams
JEFF LAWRENCE
In 2009 LBC founder Jeff Lawrence went to his very first comedy open mic where the opening comedian launched into a homophonic rant. Jeff's first bringer show he brought more than 35 guests to a major comedy club where the manager would watch acts and was yelled at because he asked for additional stage time. They gave him an additional minute. There was no one watching acts. He took his first comedy class, which was taught by someone who had never performed stand up and was told that Hitler and Holocaust jokes would not work.
Jeff decided there has got to be a better way. With the support of his friends and the few comedians he had known, he produced his first show at the Laugh Factory and when 150 people showed up, he began producing shows. Laughing Buddha Comedy was created to offer the best stage time opportunities to new and aspiring comics. Our comedy school was the first to include stage time as part of the course. As the events grew, a diverse and inclusive community was created where aspiring comics can pursue their dreams.

During the one month workshop you will learn performing, writing, and mic techniques that will help you transform your original ideas into a solid five minute set with strong laughs throughout.
Virtual stand up comedy
and writing workshop (1 month)

In this workshop you will learn how to put together a 5-minute set, joke writing with technique, storytelling, and more. Our Virtual Stand-Up Comedy Workshop is open to all levels.

GET PASSED AT LAUGHING BUDDHA COMEDY
As NYC’s largest independent producers we have the ability to book you on several of NYC’s top comedy club stages, not just one. Every time you perform in an audition show you have an opportunity to be seen by our bookers, get passed, and receive regular guest spots. You will always receive feedback on your set. You will also be introduced to our industry partners including managers, club owners, casting directors, agents, managers, and more.
